There are always themes we come across each month with our Clients and members and it brings into focus lessons for future dating. Read below for ten focused tips on not just dating, but also dating through a matchmaker.

Top Five Dating Tips

1.     Free yourself up for love. Let go of past ties to men who are just holding you back. Because that is exactly what they are doing, holding you back. You need to be totally free to meet the right person.

2.     Give each date a fair chance. Don’t multiple date so much you aren’t focused on each person. Dating max two people is OK at the start, it can sometimes even help give clarity- but then you need to hone in your focus.

3.     Take things slow. Don’t rush into a relationship too quickly and move in after the second date- I know the temptation can be there, especially with lockdown boredom. Take your time to get to know the person and enjoy the honeymoon stages.

4.     Keep up communication in between dates!! This is key. If you are busy, let the person know. If you’re thinking of them, let them know. You’ll never feel bonded if you don’t open yourself up to love and that means articulating feelings and thoughts.

5.     Eye contact is key. With the amount of park dates we’ve been arranging at the moment it can be difficult to sit opposite someone and really assess who they are visually and your connection. If you are on a park date make time to stop, get a coffee, look at each other. Otherwise very quickly the date can feel too friendly or formal.

Five Tips When Dating Through a Matchmaker

1.     Try to avoid discussing membership, how long you’ve been registered with The Echelon Scene, how many dates you’ve been set up with etc. Discussing this is the equivalent to discussing previous relationships on the first date- it does nothing to facilitate bonding. And to that point, avoid discussing exes- the standard first date no no.

2.     Keep the first date topics light and fun. Let the conversation flow naturally from topic to topic and avoid, question: answer checklists.

3.     If you had a good first date, let it be known! Don’t wait to report back to your matchmaker before you make a move. Behave as though you would after any good first date, text afterwards, book in another date.

4.     Book in your feedback for afterwards with Jacqueline Burns as fresh feedback is the most useful! That is how Jacqueline learns more about you and what works, what doesn’t work and narrows the search.

5.     Relax. We have done all of the hard work, filtering and analysing so that you can just focus on having fun. Positive minds breed positive results and it’s all of our most relaxed, happy and calm Clients that we have the most success with. So enjoy it!
