Truly knowing ourselves is key. Whilst labelling can be harmful, finding inner strength of self is one of the most important parts of life. Read below for more on the journey to self-exploration.

With societies growing and shifting ways of viewing sexual and gender identity it can be easy to simply state that we accept all and it shouldn’t matter. And this is true, to some extent. However having a strong sense of self is key and also finding ones place in the world. Of course this will naturally shift and change as we grow as people, but everyone deserves clarity of their own identity. It shapes how we operate in the world, our confidence, how we date, how we flirt and how we find and keep love in our lives. So if you’re feeling a little bit lost, not knowing who you are, what can you do to find yourself a little bit? I think for everyone this journey is different, but as I’ve said in previous blogs- sometimes doing the opposite of your natural tendency can be the most effective. So, for example if you’re typically a social butterfly, perhaps force yourself to stay in and journal, meditate and reflect a bit more. Take some time not drinking or partying to reconnect with yourself properly. Or, if you’re normally a stay at home more introverted person, perhaps try mixing with different social groups- getting out and about and putting yourself in new situations- seeing what you like. Sometimes it can be easier to think what we don’t like more than what we do.

The main key factor is to remove pressure from yourself, if you’re feeling confused in yourself or in your life then just roll with it until things become more clear. As Florence and the Machine once said ‘it’s always darkest before the light.’ Try to make the most of this summer, get out there and say yes to things which bring you joy.

Similarly, stay safe- sometimes on men’s journey to find and establish their identity men can put themselves in fun but unsafe situations. Protecting your mental state is key, so be sure to look after yourself physically (get on prep) and mentally (sometimes talking to a therapist each week can be encouraging).

Ultimately the summer is well and truly here, everyone is out and about and we are busier than ever introducing our lovely Client’s to their long-term partners. Whilst being relationship ready is key for our members, we work with our Clients and coach them through the process- so dating with professional guidance is hugely beneficial part of the process of matchmaking to find love. To learn more about how we do this and how we can help you find yourself and your loved one, please reach out direct to the Founder of The Echelon Scene, Jacqueline Burns.
