It’s Monday 8th people! And if you’re in the UK, like we are- that means date walks are officially legal. OK, this may be a bit of an anti-climax, since 90% of our Clients have been doing them anyway since December but, the end is very much in sight. As we see the numbers of new members increasing rapidly with each day Spring nears, we thought we would give five top tips for fun date ideas over the coming few months, as things lift and the R rate drops.
1. At the moment the weather is meaning park dates need to be walking ones, as sitting down in 5 degrees (although it is now legal) isn’t the most enjoyable. However, why not plan a fun route, so starting at a coffee shop and bringing some mulled wine in a flask for a scenic stop off point. This means you can walk and talk whilst getting to know each other, but also stop and make eye contact for a bit. Moving from place to place together facilitates bonding, so this is an ideal first date option.
2. If you live by yourself, then have date two at yours and treat it as you usually would a second date. Order cocktails and dinner from a fun restaurant, but make sure the date ends as a second date would typically end. Just because you’re in a home doesn’t mean you need to ramp things up, slow and steady wins the race!
3. Missing the cinema date? Buy a cute projector, some popcorn, pick and mix and turn your home into a cinema. Cosy and fun for a more mellow night in.
4. When the weather does come out, have a picnic. But do it in style and make it romantic, for example going to Fortnum and Masons and buying a fun picnic basket. If the weather still isn’t looking up, why not create your picnic indoors? Very romantic!
5. Try taking a drive or a taxi to somewhere new and exploring together. I’d have to check with Boris his thoughts on this, but it’s good for the brain to see new places and doesn’t have to be too far. Even if it's a little stroll around Hertfordshire and back, that adventure is something fun and new for you both.
These are some simple ideas for the next little while, until things fully open and the sun decides to make an appearance. Dating is definitely not as it used to be, but here at The Echelon Scene we are seeing the positive (as per usual). Back in the day people used to court by promenading together and taking a stroll. COVID has truly brought us back to basics and we are seeing good results for this in terms of dating. Slowing down, focusing on what’s right, what we deserve, where we want to be and taking baby steps forward to reach that goal. This is much more beneficial than whipping through life in a whirlwind as we did before, which only spun us in circles.
